Just about everyone agrees that the Oakland Raiders will make LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell the first pick in the draft, but Peter King of SI.com says not so fast:
I think you should not count Brady Quinn out of silver and black. Remember where you heard that first....
I think no one at these meetings really knows what the Raiders will do with the top pick a month from now. Including them.
Although Mel Kiper states emphatically, "Brady Quinn's not going to go to Oakland, JaMarcus Russell will," I think King is right that there's still a chance that the Raiders will take Brady Quinn. It's always just about impossible to figure out who's running things in Oakland. Al Davis seems to be less of a hands-on owner than he used to be, but who would make the final decision if new coach Lane Kiffin disagrees with personnel man Michael Lombardi?
Ultimately, I think JaMarcus Russell probably goes first to the Raiders. But at this time last year, I thought Reggie Bush was going first to the Texans. Until the Raiders make their pick, we won't know for sure.
