Come on guys. It's time to stop picking on poor Brady Quinn. That's the opinion of Erik Johns, a writer with the Columbus, Ohio's Other Paper.
The source of the writer's anger is the blog posts about Brady Quinn's draft-day slide, his unruly hair and most importantly, his tendency to show up in bizarre photos that pop up around the web, whether it's as a Macho Man or a crotch-grabbing extravaganza.
So as Johns sees it, it's all part of jealous bloggers picking on the Browns' new QB.
For any number of reasons, Brady Quinn has become an easy target. Some think he's an overrated player, others hate anybody from Notre Dame, and still others don't like him because, well, he's just so darn pretty.
But Johns seems to miss a point that Brady Quinn has not been picked on because people think he's overrated, because he's from Notre Dame or because he's a pretty boy (well maybe part of it is because he is a pretty boy). It just so happens that Brady Quinn was the draft pick who was thrust on everybody in the weeks leading up to the draft--JaMarcus Russell wasn't working the late-night TV circuit. And it was Brady Quinn who was on the cover of most draft preview magazines. So when photos of him started popping up in the weeks after the draft, it quickly became too funny to ignore, even if it some cases that's led to threats of legal action.
By the time the season rolls around, all of this will have blown over and we'll all have forgotten about Brady Quinn's tendency to emulate Michael Jackson in photos. Which means we'll have plenty of time to talk about his disconcerting tendency to throw a lot of wounded ducks in practice.
